Philosophy and parenting online course: the early years (0 – 10)

This course is an opportunity to step back and consider the role of the parent in the care, upbringing and education of children. We will look at parenting from the perspective of the needs of the child and will consider what is required to give children the best possible beginning in life.

The course will be both philosophical and practical in nature. We will draw on ancient philosophical and spiritual teachings, both eastern and western and consider how they can be applied in practice. We will incorporate Positive Parenting approaches that come from contemporary work in psychology and consider how these two might be married in practice.

It is offered by the School of Practical Philosophy and is presented online via Zoom over 8 weeks, beginning on Monday 6 March 2023.
