Site and master plan
Erasmus Primary School has a site master plan that aims to provide a peaceful and inspiring place in which the children can learn. Other aims include retaining the cohesiveness, charm and rich history of the grounds. Facilities include light-filled, spacious classrooms, two halls, art room, a library including an information and computer technology hub, tennis courts, bright outdoor play spaces and equipment and spaces for quiet reflection and conversation. Our commercial-standard kitchen services the dining room each day for staff and children. The school has installed solar panels, water tanks and energy efficient lighting, heating, cooling and monitoring systems.
School buildings and grounds are maintained by our Maintenance Coordinator, professional contractors, volunteers and parents (via working bees each term).
Erasmus Primary School uses the majority of the site excluding a wing of classrooms at 45 Riversdale Road, which has been segregated and used for other purposes. The site is also home to the School of Philosophy (SoP), which runs classes for adults, generally outside of Erasmus Primary School hours. An adjacent historic building facing Riversdale Road is home to some staff and is used for cultural and educational purposes.
Site history pre-Erasmus
Many locals and past students are familiar with the Erasmus Primary School grounds as the previous home to Kilmaire, a former Catholic secondary school for girls. A chronological historical snapshot of the site is attached. (Any contributions to this snapshot, including images, are most welcome and can be directed to the Principal.)
