Principal’s Welcome

Dear Erasmus Community,

Happy New Year! I trust that you managed to have some time away from the usual routine and enjoyed quality and precious time with family and friends. A huge welcome to all new students, parents and their families to Erasmus.

I’m sure it was the same for most – I found myself spending quite some time reflecting on the past year, the unforeseen challenges and how we all managed to deal with this in the best way possible, in that moment. One fortunate thing about allowing this innate capacity to reflect is the ability to recall and assess any event and, with the gift of hindsight, determine how we can improve on our decisions, outlook and attitudes; ready for the next time.

Like most I have spoken to in the last couple of months, 2020 provided me opportunity after opportunity to be present and grounded. My personal goal was to continue being present as much as possible during the break; I feel it’s a fantastic way to appreciate, as much as humanly possible, all that we experience.

No one knows what 2021 will bring. However, there is great comfort in knowing we can come together and work through whatever challenges arise.

One thing we can be sure of is that it is Erasmus’ 25th year of offering this unique education steeped in virtue, philosophy and spirituality – developing the whole child; mind, body, heart and spirit. 2021 is a definite milestone for such a young, modest school. More on this later this term.

We had some staff movement over the break; after 6 years, Ms Jayne Johns has moved on and we wish her every happiness in her new adventure.

We welcome:
Ms Tania Lavcanski who will take Year 4 this year
Ms Julie Robinson who will assist Mr Dojcinovic as a teacher aide in Year 5/6.

With assistance from the Education Department, we managed to secure a school chaplain for the next two years – Mr Travis Moloney will be at school 2 half days a week to assist the whole school community, together with Mrs Ramsay, our Wellbeing Coordinator.

You will be able to meet our new staff members this Friday evening at our Start of Year Information session. Please take this opportunity to make them all feel welcome.

The Erasmus staff successfully completed the annual off-site day last Friday. I will share more about this at Friday’s Information session.
What I can say is that we are so blessed to have such a dedicated team looking after our children.
With your support and working as one team further enables us in providing a solid foundation for our Erasmus children.

I look forward to seeing you all again at school over the coming weeks.

Kind regards,
Thierry
