World Teachers’ Day

Last Friday (30 October 2020), we celebrated World Teachers’ Day. Although we know the dedication teachers have for our children’s education and wellbeing, World Teachers’ Day provides an opportunity for us to reflect on their unique ability to give their all, every single day – so our children are well prepared to meaningfully participate in our wonderful world as they grow older. This dedication was highlighted time and time again during remote learning. Our teachers continually reviewed and tailored their approach so that each child could maximise their learning.

In reading a number of reports highlighted by Independent Schools Victoria, it is clear that although parents have a lot of respect for the work teachers do, generally teachers don’t actually feel this appreciation, and often feel under scrutiny. So, I ask you to join me in celebrating our teachers at Erasmus and all over the world. When you see a moment, don’t hesitate to pass on a quick note or email to express your thanks, your gratitude, your appreciation; it need only be short. Together, we can start to change this perception. “Salut à vous” – To our teachers!
