Welcome to 2022 at Erasmus

Dear Parents and everyone in our Erasmus Community,

Welcome to 2022 – a year full of hope, promise and opportunity.

Being “in the moment” and present is so important for our well-being and for making the most of each day. Given the uncertainty we have faced over the 2 years, looking to the future with optimism has been hard to avoid for many of us.

Practising mindfulness and pausing on a daily basis, even if only for a few minutes, is a practice that I do daily to combat this tendency to constantly wonder “what if?” Some of my best days lately have been ones that are purposeful and where I focused on what I could control to make the most of the present. This is how I plan to manage moving forward with an attitude of gratitude for what I have and the future ahead.

I take this opportunity to encourage you to reflect on how you are approaching this year ahead. I look forward to hearing your practice and thoughts as we continue to enjoy being together as a community more this year.

It has been a wonderful beginning to our school year. The laughter, noise and happy faces of our students are the reason we come to work every day. We warmly welcome our new students and families to our Erasmus Community. I encourage current Erasmus families to reach out and say hello to the new parents you see as you wander into the schoolyard. I look forward to welcoming you all to the new school year on Friday evening at our start of the year information session.

Over the holiday period, Miss Danni let me know that she would be stepping down from her position of Receptionist at Erasmus. Miss Danni, you will be missed by all of us. Your laughter, caring nature to all students, staff and parents alike, warmth, compassion and generosity and humour will be missed by all of us. On behalf of all in our community, we wish you well in your future endeavours.

Stay safe, well and happy everyone.

Melissa Albers – Acting Principal
