Welcome back to Term 2!

Hello to our wonderful school community,

Welcome back to Term 2! I trust that you all enjoyed a relaxing and refreshing break. The signs of change of season are amongst us as the leaves begin to fall, cold mornings welcome us, and winter uniform is taken out of wardrobes. Happy Autumn!

This morning we gathered at the steps to remember those who have fought and fallen in wars past and present. The significance of ANZAC Day is one that we want our students to understand and respect as they grow.

The Ode “For the Fallen’, ‘Last Post’ and ‘Rouse’ never fail to send goosebumps through my body. The students all stood in respect and stillness as we observed the 1-minute silence.

We then came together in the school hall to share the significance of the poppy and rosemary to ANZAC Day and other meaningful symbols. Each student was given a sprig of rosemary to take home; I encourage you to ask your child/children to share their understanding of its significance.

I want to take this opportunity to welcome Sharon Ramsay as Acting Deputy Principal. Sharon has been an incredible asset and support to me as I navigate the role of Acting Principal; she will continue in the role until a new principal is appointed.

I am full of appreciation and gratitude as I close my address this week. Thank you all for your ongoing support.

Stay safe and well.

Melissa Albers – Acting Principal
