2026 Scholarships

Eligibility Criteria

Residential Status

A student must be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident of Australia. Applicants must complete and lodge an application form by Friday, 24 January 2025.

Academic Merit

Applicants must show outstanding academic performance, evidenced by:

  • Equivalent of high distinction grades.
  • Recent School Report records and academic awards.
  • Consistent effort towards work tasks and completion of tasks to a high standard.

Extracurricular Excellence

Candidates must demonstrate participation in activities such as:

  • Arts (e.g., music, drama, visual arts).
  • Sports (local, regional, state, or national representation).
  • Community service or leadership roles.

Proof may include portfolios, certificates, or reference letters.

Character and Leadership

Students should exhibit leadership, positive influence, and involvement in school or community activities. This may be supported by:

  • A personal statement of up to 100 words, dependent on current school Year Level (Year 2 – 5).
  • Evidence of treating peers, teachers, and others with consideration and courtesy.
  • Letters of recommendation from teachers or community leaders.

Scholarship Interview Prerequisite

Students invited to attend a Scholarship Interview must have completed and submitted an Application Form prior to being interviewed.

Financial Need (if applicable)

For need-based scholarships, applicants must submit:

  • Proof of household income (tax returns, financial statements).
  • A completed financial aid form outlining expenses and income.
  • Notification to the school in the event of changed circumstances.

Application and Assessment Process

Submission Requirements

  • Completed scholarship application form.
  • Academic transcripts and certificates.
  • Relevant supporting documents (e.g., financial statements, letters of reference).

Testing and Interviews

  • All academic scholarship applicants will be required to complete a written examination.
  • Interviews with the scholarship committee may be conducted to assess character and motivation, and may also involve parents/guardians.

Application Timeline

  • Applications open in November 2024 and close 24 January 2025.
  • Decisions communicated by June, the year of the test.

Conditions for Maintaining the Scholarship

Academic Standards

  • Maintain consistent results or demonstrate general improvements in internal school tests and documented learning.

Behaviour and Conduct

  • Abide by the school’s code of conduct and maintain good behaviour.
  • Poor behaviour may result in probation or loss of the scholarship.

Active Participation

  • Engage in relevant activities (e.g., school choir; school-based initiatives and programs).

Annual Review

  • A review meeting with academic advisors and the scholarship committee to ensure compliance during Semester 2 of each year enrolled.

Scholarship Benefits

Coverage Details

  • An offer ranging from 25% to 50% off tuition fees (excluding levies and taxes), dependent on the type of scholarship.
  • Possible inclusion of school-related expenses like uniforms or textbooks for need-based scholarships, at the discretion of the Scholarship committee.

  • Participating fully in the wide variety of programs provided by the School.

A female student excelling in Science, Maths, or Technology (STEM-related) may be awarded the Catherine Irvine Science, Maths, and Technology Scholarship for girls.

Duration

  • Scholarships are valid from the year of award through to graduation, the completion of Year 6, subject to progress, performance, adherence to school values, and good behaviour.

Renewal Process

  • Annual review by the scholarship committee.
  • Submission of updated academic records and a summary of extracurricular participation.

Termination and Revocation

  • Scholarships may be revoked for reasons including academic probation, behavioural issues, or failure to fulfil participation requirements.
  • Should a student’s enrolment be withdrawn prior to graduating (Year 6) from Erasmus Primary School, 100% of monies paid as part of the scholarship may require to be repaid back to the school.

Terms and Conditions

Termination Clauses

Erasmus Primary School reserves the right to withdraw a scholarship due to consistent non-compliance with the agreement.

Leave of Absence

  • Scholarships may be deferred upon written request for up to one (1) year, provided the reason is approved (e.g., medical or personal leave).
  • Yearly leave of absence is kept to a minimum, and does not exceed two (2) school weeks.

Reassessment and Appeals

Scholarship holders may appeal a revocation decision by submitting a formal request within two (2) weeks of the decision.

Confidentiality

Personal and financial information submitted as part of the scholarship application will be handled in accordance with the School’s privacy policy and relevant legal guidelines.
