Dear Parents & Friends of Erasmus – Welcome back to Term 3
Dear Parents and Friends of Erasmus,
Welcome back to Term 3, although perhaps not quite in the way we had wanted. I hope everyone enjoyed the break and availed themselves of something different to the usual routine. Term 3 has started with a reminder that this pandemic is unpredictable and may not disappear any time soon. This, together with memories of the past 18 months have left me with emotions I never realised I was holding.
What I have remembered though, is that as human, emotional beings, we need to acknowledge and accept all that we feel emotionally. It’s not about good, bad, right or wrong. It is about being aware of what is going on for us. The beauty is that once we accept what is, then we can work towards transcending these emotions; we need to look after ourselves and each other.
Some of you may know that I practice meditation; twice a day every day. This practice helps me to, at the very least, stay calm and still enough to assist when sorting through things. I wish to send out a reminder to you that it’s ok to be feeling flat, upset, frustrated, whatever the emotion may be. But it doesn’t have to stop there! When we acknowledge our feelings, we are then in a position to do something. Something to help us move forward; to be a little more courageous, understanding and perhaps stronger. I would love to hear some of your own stories and what you are doing/have done to move forward.
I wish to take this opportunity to thank you as parents and carers for the work you are doing at home with your children during remote learning. All whilst still having to work from home yourselves. There is also the staff at Erasmus, teachers and support staff alike, all putting their best foot forward so that we can continue to educate our Erasmus children; your children. I take my hat off to you all!
I wish you well. Stay safe and before we realise, we will be speaking again – in person!
Kindest regards,
Thierry
